Two Premier League sides, Arsenal and Newcastle United, will continue their preseason preparations with a friendly battle on Sunday in Singapore.

Arsenal are coming off an impressive 1-0 victory over AC Milan in their last friendly outing. Right winger Bukayo Saka’s 29th-minute goal was the only goal from the side, helping his team to secure a comfortable win. The Gunners are trying out different setups to make a formidable squad ahead of the upcoming Premier League 2025/26 season. 

On the other side, Newcastle United were hammered 0-4 by the reigning Scottish champions, Celtic, in their second friendly battle. Prior to this defeat, the Magpies thrashed Carlisle United 4-0 in their first friendly encounter. The Eddie Howe-led side is currently facing a major headache around their primary striker, Alexander Isak; the Swedish footballer has already conveyed that he will be leaving the club soon. 

These two Premier League sides last faced each other in May this year, where the Gunners hammered the Magpies in a 1-0 win.

Noni Madueke, signed from Chelsea last week, will not feature yet as he is on a short break following the Blues’ FIFA Club World Cup campaign. Viktor Gyokeres has not signed yet and will need time to link up with the club and get to training before he can appear in a match.

Arsenal’s only injury worry at this point in preseason is the continued recovery of forward Gabriel Jesus from his ACL tear last winter. Jesus is expected to be ready for action soon but will be brought back slowly given his history of knee injuries.

New winger Anthony Elanga should be ready to play significant minutes moving forward after coming off the bench against Celtic.
