Hendon Hooker is putting together a strong case to be No.2 quarterback behind Jared Goff for the Detroit Lions.

It sounds like the third-year signal-caller out of Tennessee had a fantastic practice on Saturday. According to Jeremy Reisman of Pride of Detroit, Hooker made the best throw of the day to Tom Kennedy for a touchdown.

“Hendon Hooker with the throw of the day so far. Dropped a dime on a fade to Tom Kennedy for a RZ TD,” Reisman wrote on X.

Hooker also finished practice with a nice throw to rookie receiver Isaac TeSlaa in tight coverage.

“Practice ends with another Hooker dime to TeSlaa. Tight coverage from DiCaprio, but TeSlaa came down with it for a 30-ish yard gain (maybe TD,” Reisman wrote.

Through two years, Hooker hasn’t seen the field much and was even demoted to the QB3 role late last year after the Lions brought back Teddy Bridgewater to be the backup for the postseason.

However, it looks like Hooker is making strides in camp and is the heavy favorite to be the QB2. The 27-year-old has always had head coach Dan Campbell’s support, but he’s finally putting it together heading into this third season.
