The Miami Dolphins had to find someone.
With cornerback Artie Burns set to miss the season with an ACL tear, they needed more depth on the defensive perimeter.
They turned to one of their former draft picks as a new addition.
The Dolphins have signed free agent Cornell Armstrong, a cornerback they took in the sixth round in 2018.
Armstrong spent just one season with Miami initially. He had eight tackles in 15 games as a rookie.

He then spent time with the Texans for two seasons and the Falcons for a season. Armstrong tried to make the Raiders in 2023 but didn’t end up on the 53-man roster. He spent the season on the practice squad.
The Raiders waived Armstrong last summer, and it’s not clear that he linked up with any team during the 2024 season.
Armstrong’s NFL action has mostly come on special teams, so he may not be the only replacement coming in for Burns. But it’s a start, as the Dolphins needed to make at least one move after the Burns injury.
