The Tennessee Volunteers might find themselves in another transfer scandal this time with defensive back Boo Carter.

Rumors are circulating that Carter wants more NIL money and is threatening to hit the transfer portal like former Vols QB Nico Iamaleava.

Longtime Vols insider/talk show host Tony Basilio has said there is no guarantee that Carter will be in fall camp for the Vols.

Another bad sign, according to Basilio, Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel can’t find Carter and has been searching for him around the state.

“This thing is a lot more serious than I thought it was,” said Basilio. “From this perspective — I had a source last night tell me that Heupel reached out to him, saying, ‘Have you seen Boo Carter?’ That’s not a good sign. When your head coach has lost track of somebody, and they’re supposed to be reporting (to fall camp), that’s probably not a good sign.”

Basilio also added that Carter’s disappearance has nothing to do with money.

“It has nothing to do with money,” he said. “My understanding is there’s a lot of things swirling around with him and his camp. It has nothing to do with money, is my understanding.”

It was just revealed recently by ESPN college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit that the reason Iamaleava left was because he wanted the Vols to bring in more talent to help his son, when the Vols failed to comply, he left the team.

At this point, no one knows if Carter has actually left the team and if so, why. Carter could just still be on summer vacation since fall camp hasn’t been back in session yet. However, if he hasn’t gotten back with his team about his whereabouts and if he will be back this season, it may be time to hit the panic button.
