The Golden State Warriors are starting to miss the party. The other best teams in the Western Conference are stacking their rosters. The Los Angeles Clippers got Chris Paul and Bradley Beal. The Denver Nuggets have Cam Johnson and Jonas Valanciunas. The  Houston Rockets traded for Kevin Durant. The Los Angeles Lakers signed DeAndre Ayton and Marcus Smart. The Warriors have still done nothing.

That doesn’t mean that Warriors fans should lose hope. One NBA insider provided promising news on the Warriors’ chances to sign two of the best NBA free agents still available.

Brett Siegel provided this update on the Warriors’ free agent targets.

“Al Horford and De’Anthony Melton are widely expected to sign with the Warriors, sources said.

A handful of teams at NBA Summer League stated Horford and Melton already have verbal agreements in place with Golden State.

Jonathan Kuminga’s situation is holding these deals up.”

The Warriors seem to be in the exact same position they were a week ago. While fans are getting frustrated in updates like this, it means the Warriors are still doing work behind the scenes.

If the Warriors can sign Melton and Horford as well as some of the other top NBA free agents still available, they will have a solid team next season.

Is solid going to be enough to compete with the rest of the top of the Western Conference? Maybe not. However, a healthy Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler, surrounded by solid role players, will certainly have the opportunity to contend for a Championship.
