Eugenio Suárez is one of the hottest players in baseball right now. He’s also one of the hottest trade targets in the MLB.
With the trade deadline approaching at the end of July, contenders are looking to upgrade their lineups. Suárez has hit two home runs in back-to-back games bringing his total to 35 home runs and 85 RBI’s through 98 games.
It’s only rocketed the value of the third baseman as teams come knocking.
Suárez was asked about being on the trade block and made his desire to stay in Arizona clear.
“We want to make it a hard decision for them (the front office)…I think we have a chance,” he said.
The Diamondbacks sit at 50-50 through 100 games, 8 games back of the Dodgers for first place in the NL West.
It’s a crossroads that has almost everyone in Arizona on the trade market, not just Suárez.
No player in MLB history has been traded in-season after reaching 35 home runs.
Diamondbacks All-Star third baseman Eugenio Suarez, who just hit his 35th homer, could very well be the 1st.— Bob Nightengale (@BNightengale) July 20, 2025
The third baseman is on the last year of his $66 million contract so any team trading for him would risk losing him for nothing in free agency. Still, this recent hot streak is increasing his value and making it harder for teams to negotiate.
But after his recent comments, it’s clear that’s an added bonus for Suárez. He is hoping to keep hitting dingers not just for wins, but to stay with the Diamondbacks for the rest of the season.
