Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has revealed how he plans to use Joao Pedro next season.

The Brazilian has only been at Chelsea since the start of July but has already made an instant impact on his surroundings.

He scored a brace against Fluminense in the semi-final of the Club World Cup and backed that performance up with a goal in the final against Paris Saint-Germain.

Along the way, he has developed a solid partnership with Cole Palmer that is certain to worry Premier League defences going into the next season.

After seeing the duo combine, some teams might consider deploying a low block against the Blues, but Maresca has a plan to counter that.

He plans to unleash Joao Pedro against teams that deploy the low block against Chelsea.

How Maresca plans to use Joao Pedro next season

Some of the clubs lower down the Premier League table may also have to be concerned about Pedro when they take on Chelsea next season.

Maresca plans to really utilise the 23-year-old against teams who like to use a low defensive block.

“I can say Joao is an amazing player,” Maresca was quoted as saying by Chelsea’s official website. “We can really use him against teams that defend in a very low block with no spaces, because he’s really good in tight spaces.”

Pedro is just one of three senior strikers whom Maresca can call upon, with the Chelsea manager also having Liam Delap and Nicolas Jackson at his disposal.

But there is no guarantee that Jackson will still be at the club by the end of the transfer window.

Jackson may have to push for a move after falling down the centre-forward pecking order at Stamford Bridge.
