The Open Championship is descending upon Royal Portrush Golf Club for the first time since 2019.
It’s the third time the historic tournament heads to Northern Ireland, which first hosted the Open Championship in 1951. Shane Lowry secured a monumental victory for Irish golf when he won the 2019 Open Championship at Royal Portrush.
Lowry, ranked 18th in the latest World Ranking, is among the cohort of golfers vying for a second Open Championship. The list includes World No. 3 Xander Schauffele, who aims for back-to-back titles after winning the 152nd Open at Royal Troon.
Scottie Scheffler, the No. 1 player in the world, is hoping to secure the first Open Championship of his storied career.
Play begins Thursday, July 17 and will conclude on Sunday, July 20, with the 156-player field whittled down to one champion.

British Open coverage 2025: TV channels, live streams
Coverage of the 2025 British Open will air live on NBC and the USA Network featuring five different play-by-ply announcers including Dan Hicks, Terry Gannon and Mike Tirico.
The USA Network will carry portions of the primary broadcast for all four rounds, while NBC will air segments of the primary broadcast for the third and fourth rounds.
The main network broadcast will be available to stream live with Fubo.
