What does the team that has everything shop for at the trade deadline?
Okay, that’s a bit facetious, because the Los Angeles Dodgers could probably do with some pitching staff reinforcements. But realistically, they’re the contender who could most comfortably stand pat as their rivals chase big names.
This is the Dodgers we’re speaking of, though, so chances are, they’ll at least make some moves on the periphery that have a chance to pay off in a big way.
One baseball content creator sees LA taking a stab at the Minnesota Twins’ roster.
In a recent YouTube video, Jim Riley of BALLCAP Sports predicted that the Dodgers would acquire Twins starting pitcher Chris Paddack and utility player Willi Castro in a two-for-one trade deadline special.
“The Dodgers could kill two birds with one stone here,” Riley said. “Call up the Minnesota Twins, get Chris Paddack, also get Willi Castro.

“Look at Willi Castro with an .803 OPS, an on-base percentage of .361, a batting run value in the 78th percentile. And he’s a switch-hitter, so you get righty-lefty, he plays everywhere, all over the diamond, so his versatility is phenomenal.”
Paddack, who will be a free agent after the season, owns a 4.95 ERA in 19 starts, totaling 70 strikeouts in 100 innings. Castro, who is slated for free agency as well, has played every position but catcher at some point this season.
While a trade bringing both of these Twins to LA wouldn’t steal the headlines, it would have the potential to make major differences at the margins of the roster.
