Kyrie Irving is no stranger to letting his opinions be heard, even to the point to where it interferes with the time he’s allowed to play on the hardwood.

Ever since he came to the Dallas Mavericks in the 2023 season, though, he has showed nothing but maturity and taking more of a leadership role, similar to what he held in Cleveland alongside LeBron James during the team’s most successful years.

But even as he takes on the leadership position in Dallas, he’s still not afraid to speak his mind, and recently targeted some aggression towards notable ESPN personality Stephen A. Smith.

Kyrie recently gave his thoughts on Smith’s five-year, $100 million deal he recently signed to stay with ESPN, wording it like Smith might word some massive deals of nowadays.

“I’m going to discuss his contract. I’m going to discuss Stephen A.’s contract,” the Mavs guard said on a livestream. “I’m gonna say, ‘I don’t think you’re worth it.'”

Well, if there’s anyone that is known for letting their thoughts out about a matter, it’s definitely the ESPN analyst, who has gained notoriety for his rough personality and controversial opinions in various sports since joining the network in 2003.

As Irving continues to nurse his torn ACL, this can only be seen as a way of Irving returning the favor for Smith’s disowning takes over the year, especially on his First Take show and his talks with legendary NFL tight end, Shannon Sharpe.
