At just 22-years-old, Carlos Alcaraz has established himself as one of the new stars in men’s tennis.
With Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal retired, and Novak Djokovic aging, Alcaraz is one of the faces of the sport with multiple major championships. In fact, his success in Grand Slam tournaments has allowed him to separate from the rest of the young pack.
The Spaniard has an impressive major tournament resume since 2021, when he made his Grand Slam debut. Here’s a breakdown of Alcaraz’s history in Grand Slam tournaments in his career.

Has Carlos Alcaraz won a Grand Slam?
Carlos Alcaraz doesn’t have the career Grand Slam yet, as he hasn’t won the Australian Open. However, the Spaniard has at least one win in the French Open, Wimbledon and the U.S. Open, so he is just an Australian Open victory away from the career Grand Slam.
Overall, Alcaraz has five career major wins since playing in his first major in 2021.

The Australian Open has historically been Alcaraz’s biggest challenge, as he has yet to make the semifinals in four appearances. In 2021, Alcaraz played in his first-ever major tournament at the Australian Open as a 17-year-old qualifier, losing in the second round. Then, after gaining more major tournament experience a year later, he made it a round further.
After missing the 2023 Australian Open with an injury, Alcaraz returned to Melbourne in 2024 as a two-time major champion, then again in 2025 as a four-time major champion. Still, Alcaraz lost to Alexander Zverev and Novak Djokovic in back-to-back years and has yet to make the Australian Open semifinals.

The French Open is Alcaraz’s most successful major tournament, as he has made it past the second round each year. Additionally, he has made four-straight quarterfinals, three-straight semifinals and is the two-time defending champion at the tournament.
Just like with the Australian Open, Alcaraz lost to Zverev and Djokovic in back-to-back years in 2022 and 2023. However, he finally defeated Zverev in the 2024 French Open final, despite being down two-sets-to-one, to collect his third unique Grand Slam win.
In 2024, Alcaraz took on Jannik Sinner in the French Open final, as Sinner was looking for his first French Open win and fourth major overall. While Sinner won the first two sets, Alcaraz stormed back once again for another impressive five-set victory.

Alcaraz has found a ton of success on grass, winning Wimbledon twice in his four starts, including two-straight in 2023 and 2024. In fact, Alcaraz’s only two losses at the year’s third Grand Slam came against world-class players, as he lost to Daniil Medvedev in 2021 and Sinner in 2022.
Alcaraz’s two Wimbledon championships came in impressive fashion, as he beat Djokovic in 2023 and 2024. Djokovic entered the 2023 title match as a four-time defending champion, but Alcaraz outlasted him in five sets. Alcaraz became the first player besides Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray or Roger Federer to win the men’s Wimbledon title since 2002.
The following year, Djokovic was looking for revenge as Alcaraz was coming off a French Open victory for his third major title, but the Spaniard proved too tough for the veteran by winning in straight sets.

Alcaraz’s big breakouts both came at the U.S. Open. First, he made his first major quarterfinals in 2021, when he was forced to retire against Felix Auger-Aliassime. The following year, he won his first Grand Slam tournament at the 2022 U.S. Open, defeating Casper Ruud in straight sets in the finals, a run that included Alcaraz defeating Sinner in the quarterfinals and Frances Tiafoe in the semifinals..
Since then, Alcaraz hasn’t been able to win a second U.S. Open, as he lost to Medvedev in the 2023 semifinals, then was upset by Botic van de Zandschulp in the 2024 second round.
