When you have these physical traits, you keep getting chances.

Chase Claypool may have not lived up to the potential he had when the Pittsburgh Steelers chose him in the 2020 second round out of Notre Dame, but he’s got the gifts, and he’s attempting to get back into the NFL to use them.

Claypool missed the entire 2024 season with injury. He shared some details recently on Instagram.

“My first season-ending injury in 18 years came at the worst possible time. I felt like God was playing a joke on me,” Claypool wrote in a recent Instagram post. “It’s been a year since I’ve posted on Instagram, and almost nobody knows what actually happened to me… I tore a ligament and a tendon in my second toe and have been rehabbing, working out, and recovering every day for the past year. I am back to being the strongest and fastest I have ever been and couldn’t be more excited to step back out on the field and let my actions speak for themselves.”

Claypool was most recently with the Bills, but his preseason injury led to his release in August 2024.

The 27-year old played two strong seasons to start his career with the Steelers, totaling at least 860 receiving yards in both campaigns (and 9 TDs as a rookie).

Claypool ended up playing with the Bears and Dolphins, too.

All told, the Canadian wide receiver has played in 58 games, received 2,261 yards and caught 13 touchdowns.

Claypool has been more of a bust than a hit, but there’s still time if he gets another opportunity.

The 6-foot-4, speedy Claypool can at least earn a secondary WR role somewhere. He’s got too many big traits not to.

So given that it seems Claypool does indeed want back in, expect another NFL team to give him a shot.
