One would have to believe Iverson Allen has heard the comment about “practice” several times during his athletic career. The Panamanian outfield is part of the Pittsburgh Pirates farm system.

The practice reference dates back to former Philadelphia 76ers star Allen Iverson, one of the top scoring guards in NBA history. But while A.I led the Sixers to the NBA Finals, he was almost more famous for his rant about “practice” during a press conference.

The 17-year-old Allen is an outfielder for the Pirates who started with the team as a 16-year-old in 2024. He played in 22 games, recording 14 hits with eight runs scored, two triples, three RBI and two steals.

In 17 games so far this season, Allen has nine hits with a triple, a double, six RBI and eight steals. 

His namesake, Allen Iverson, was the No. 1 overall pick in the 1996 NBA Draft. He played for four teams during his extended NBA career, winning MVP honors in 2001.

Iverson was a 10-time All-Star, three-time all-NBA first team selection and three time second team pick.
