The Indianapolis Colts have reportedly traded Quenton Nelson to the Seattle Seahawks, making it clear the team is going to be trade deadline sellers this year.
While there are trade rumors about players like DeForest Buckner, Keenan Allen, and Josh Downs, the most interesting name to come up is running back Jonathan Taylor.
But what does the ownership think of a Taylor trade? ESPN’s Adam Schefter revealed on The Pat McAfee Show that the Colts’ ownership, led by Carlie Irsay-Gordon, doesn’t want to trade Taylor.
Colts’ ownership stance on Jonathan Taylor trade revealed
“My understanding is the owner doesn’t want to trade Jonathan Taylor… I’m sure they don’t want to trade Jonathan Taylor,” Schefter said. “And if I had to guess today, I would say, I don’t think they will trade Jonathan Taylor.”

This shouldn’t come as a huge surprise, as Colts’ ownership won’t just make it known they want to trade Taylor this season, as it would ruin any leverage the Colts would have for a trade.
But if taking this report at face value, then it would seem more likely than not that Taylor sticks with the Colts this season instead of being dealt.
That doesn’t mean Taylor won’t actually be traded, as a team desperate for running back help could make a big offer, or a contender could look to improve significantly this season with an upgrade to Taylor.

Teams like the New York Giants, Seattle Seahawks, and Minnesota Vikings would make sense as trade suitors for Taylor. A few other teams might be willing to splurge on Taylor as well, if they believe he’s the difference between a deep playoff run and not.
However, those potentially interested teams have a problem: the Colts might not want to trade Taylor. If this report from Schefter is accurate, then Irsay-Gordon doesn’t want to trade the star running back this season.
Keeping him would make sense, but so would a trade. While the reporting indicates, as of Tuesday before Week 8, two weeks before the trade deadline, the Colts don’t want to trade him, Taylor could very well be on the move by the November 10 trade deadline.
