The Los Angeles Chargers are 0-6 heading into Week 7 of the NFL season, which is pretty shocking in and of itself. Justin Herbert has been considered one of the stronger quarterbacks in the league, but that’s certainly not the case this season. Head coach Jim Harbaugh appears to be at a loss for words, too. The team is basically tanking.

So, why not trade Herbert? It’s a crazy idea, but one NFL analyst’s bold trade prediction has the quarterback being shipped off.

On Wednesday, before the NFL’s Week 7 slate of games, Jordan Dajani of CBS Sports released a feature naming five players he’d “like to see get a change of scenery.” One of the most surprising names on this list is Herbert. Sure, he’s not playing well, but would a trade really happen?

Justin Herbert could be headed to a new team

Dajani notes that when it comes to numbers, Herbert is No. 1 in the NFL in interceptions this season with eight, and he’s also averaging a career-low 190.2 passing yards per game. He also was crowned the first quarterback in the history of the league to start a season with zero wins after six weeks, “while throwing an interception with at least two sacks taken in each game. It’s been a disaster,” Dajani says.

“Justin Herbert is not Josh Allen or Lamar Jackson. He can’t be leading the Chargers in rushing yards like he did against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, and he can’t power a team to success by himself,” he adds. “Herbert needs a more comfortable situation — maybe one that includes a Brian Flores defense and Justin Jefferson.”

So, Dajani has Herbert being traded to either the Minnesota Vikings, New York Jets or Philadelphia Eagles. It’s a wild idea, but stranger things have happened in the NFL.
