The Chicago Bears lost Caleb Williams near the end of Week 2 in their loss to the Minnesota Vikings, and the combination of Case Keenum and Tyson Bagent has gone 2-1 since then.

But after a rough Week 5 against the NFC North rival Green Bay Packers, the Bears are in desperate need of Williams back on the field. Fortunately, the latest update is some good news for such a future coming to pass.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Bears’ QB is trending in the right direction, and that “all signs” are pointing towards Williams returning to the Bears’ offense this upcoming Week 6 matchup.

Bears get good Caleb Williams news for Week 6 playing odds

“The fact that Caleb Williams was working out before the game, in a pretty strenuous workout… this is a very good sign,” Rapoport said. “… All signs point to Caleb Williams being back on the field for Chicago…”

With a Week 6 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons on tap, the Bears getting Williams back would be huge. After missing three weeks, he’s one week away from missing the equivalent amount of time as if he were placed on injured reserve.

Returning for Week 6 against the Falcons would prove the Bears were right not to place Williams on IR. They shouldn’t rush Williams back, but they really need him back after the performance from the Packers QBs in Week 5.

Fortunately, this update from Rapoport points to the Bears’ franchise quarterback being back in action for Week 6 against the Falcons.

Nothing is confirmed just yet, and he’ll need to suit up during practice this week to prove he’s good to go. But based on his pre-game workout and this report, Williams is clearly trending in the right direction.

The 3-2 Bears are tied for last place in the NFC North with the Packers and Detroit Lions, sitting 2.0 games back of the 5-0 Minnesota Vikings.

If the Bears want any chance of winning the division again, they’re going to need to get Williams back as soon as possible. That looks possible, if not likely, as Williams returning to the field for Week 6 is very much in play.
