Josh Hart has been with the New York Knicks since the second half of the 2022-23 season. Since then, Hart has been one of the hardest-working players in the league. He also fits like a glove within the Knicks‘ locker room led by Jalen Brunson.
Hart signed a four-year contract worth $81 million with the Knicks back in 2023. Since Hart’s contract will be up by the 2027 offseason, negotiations have taken place between Hart and the Knicks. However, an agreement has not been reached just yet.
Josh Hart seems focused on helping the Knicks amid stalled contract talks
While Towns has been the headline attraction when it comes to the Knicks’ contract extensions, Hart is also an important player for the team. He is their hardest worker on the court because he constantly fights for rebounds and loose balls, and he takes the toughest perimeter defensive assignments.
Hart is also a valuable voice in the locker room, as he is one of the team’s leaders. He is one of the most supportive teammates on the Knicks, so that adds to the value of his intangibles.

Hart has cemented himself as one of the key role players for the Knicks. Retaining him would be a good decision, but the Knicks and Hart’s team have to figure out the right number that satisfies every party involved. However, those talks have been paused, and Hart seems fine with that decision.
“At the end of the day, I’m still under contract in New York. We have a hell of a team that’s going to try to repeat. I’m in an amazing situation off the court. It’s not frustrating,” Hart said about his contract situation with the Knicks.
Moving forward, the Knicks will be focusing on basketball. When the season gets going, that will be the time when the Knicks will get their affairs in order, headlined by the extensions for both Hart and Towns.
