The Los Angeles Chargers have, once again, lost during the 2026 season. Through four weeks, the Chargers are 0-4. With multiple crushing losses and comeback attempts in vain, this season has gone horribly wrong so far.

But it’s unfortunately not just due to poor play. The Chargers continue to suffer significant injuries. Multiple tight ends are banged up; Ladd McConkey has been on and off the field, and now the Chargers got some brutal news on Rashawn Slater.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Slater has a high ankle injury and is now slated to miss multiple weeks to recover. In a brutal season already, the Chargers just lost their best lineman.

Chargers get brutal news as Rashawn Slater has high-ankle sprain

“Chargers Pro Bowl OT Rashawn Slater is believed to have suffered a high-ankle sprain based on the initial exams, sources say,” Rapoport reports. “He’ll have an MRI this morning, but that’s an injury that generally takes several weeks to heal. A hit to the LAC OL.”

This is some unfortunate news for Slater, who also had a major injury last season that forced him to miss time.

While this shouldn’t be a season-ending issue for Slater, considering the Chargers’ 0-4 record, it might as well be.

Even if Slater comes back, by the time of his return, the Chargers will, more likely than not, already be well enough outside the playoff hunt that they can easily justify trading away players at the NFL trade deadline.

This season continues to spiral out of control for the Chargers, and Slater’s high ankle sprain is just another brutal blow in a season chock-full of those after just four weeks.

As if the offense didn’t already look poor, the Chargers now will need to operate at a high level against some tough competition without their best lineman.

This is some brutal news for the Chargers, as they continue to see their hopes for this season fall apart amid an unthinkably unlucky and bleak season.
