There’s hope around the New York Giants organization that young quarterback Jaxson Dart could eventually return for the playoffs, if the Giants get there.

As of now, the Giants find themselves in a relatively good spot at 2-1, but there’s still a lot of season left, and without Dart, this offense just isn’t the same as it typically is.

Unfortunately, the former Ole Miss standout went down with a tough knee injury. He underwent surgery on his injured knee recently, and according to head coach John Harbaugh, it went about as expected.

“I think it went well,” Harbaugh told reporters Wednesday, H/T Clutch Points. “Have you ever heard the doctor tell you it didn’t go well? Yeah, the doc said it went well.”

Regarding whether Dart could return to the Giants if the team makes the playoffs, it doesn’t sound like Harbaugh is too optimistic about that, perhaps the most unfortunate part of this entire situation.

“I think it was as expected. I think they saw what they thought they were going to see and just fixed it. The timeline doesn’t really change too much.”

The playoffs are still a bit away, and there’s always a possibility that Dart recovers quicker than the initial four-to-six-month recovery time. If he can come back after those four months, he’ll find himself in a spot to play.

If not, he’s likely going to miss the remainder of the season, including the playoffs. For the Giants, they have more to worry about right now in terms of getting there first, so they’ll have to be ready to go.
