FIBA Women’s World Cup qualifiers for Team USA will kick off on Wednesday afternoon against Senegal. 24 countries will be attempting to qualify in one of the 11 spots for the international tournament in Germany, as Germany’s team received an autobid as host.

Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark is set to make her Team USA debut, which will have fans tuning in to watch one of the WNBA’s brightest stars begin her international career. In two WNBA seasons (2025: 13 games played due to injury), she averaged 18.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 8.5 assists, along with shooting 40.5% from the field and 32.9% from beyond the arc.

Besides Clark, Team USA is stacked. Paige Bueckers, Aliyah Boston, Chelsea Gray, Kelsey Plum, and Angel Reese will also be suiting up for the Stars and Stripes. Their head coach is Kara Lawson, who also coaches the Duke Blue Devils women’s team.

The USA has medaled in every FIBA Women’s World Cup since 1979, and will be looking for its fifth straight gold medal if it were to qualify for the 2026 World Cup. Host nation Germany has never medaled before and is looking to make history in front of their home crowd.
