The Chicago Bears have been making some big changes this offseason already. Ben Johnson and Ryan Poles have been busy, with their biggest move the trade of DJ Moore to the Buffalo Bills.
While Rome Odunze and Luther Burden have a lot of promise, the Bears do still need to add another receiver or two, especially with Olamide Zaccheaus leaving to join the Atlanta Falcons.
The Bears have found their new option, as according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Bears are going to sign former Detroit Lions wide receiver/returner Kalif Raymond to a free agency contract.
Bears to sign Kalif Raymond to free agent contract
“Source: The Bears are signing former Lions WR and returner Kalif Raymond,” Rapoport reports, “adding an intriguing weapon in Chicago.”
Raymond isn’t the most prolific receiver in the NFL, but he has worked well for the Lions the last few seasons. He had 289 receiving yards and one touchdown on 24 catches last year. He also had 241 punt-return yards and a touchdown last season.
In his NFL career, which spans nine seasons, five of which were with the Lions, Raymond has three punt-return touchdowns and two second-team All-Pro nods.
Raymond will now be joining the Bears and Caleb Williams for his 10th NFL season in 2026 after a down season with the Lions in 2025.
More: Bears never had real interest in a Maxx Crosby trade
The 31-year-old undrafted free agent has carved out an impressive career, and he now reunites with Ben Johnson and Antwan Randel El in Chicago to join the Bears’ wide receiver and returner rooms.
While in Detroit, Raymond put up a few strong years before this past season. He had 147 receptions on 201 targets for 1,896 yards and seven touchdowns from 2021 through 2024.
According to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, this is a $5.1 million one-year contract for Raymond to come to the Bears and reunite with Johnson and Randel El in Chicago.
While he won’t be replacing Moore in the offense, he could provide some sneaky great value for the Bears as he’s reuniting with his former coaches and joining a Bears team on the rise after a playoff run in 2025.
