The Los Angeles Lakers will host the New York Knicks on ABC’s afternoon slate on International Women’s Day, just after the Cavs–Celtics game.
The Lakers are looking to gain some headway in a packed middle of the Western Conference playoff picture. Sunday’s game against the Knicks will be the second in a five-game homestand for LA, before eventually playing the Timberwolves, Bulls, and Nuggets.
While this season has had its ups and downs for the Knicks, the team is still No. 3 in the Eastern Conference. New York’s game against Los Angeles caps a tough stretch of games, as prior to this, the team played the Oklahoma City Thunder and Denver Nuggets. This time around against the Lakers, the Knicks will have pesky guard Jose Alvarado, who will be tasked with containing perennial All-Star Luka Doncic.
In this matchup, the Lakers are looking to avoid getting swept in the season series against the Knicks, after losing on Feb. 1 at Madison Square Garden 112-100. Outside of Luka Doncic (30 PTS) and LeBron James (22 PTS), the rest of the Lakers team scored just 48 points.
