It’s a World Baseball Classic year — meaning baseball fans will get two weeks full of competitive action, featuring some of the sport’s biggest stars, in the month of March prior to MLB’s Opening Day.
Pool play officially opens on March 4, with 20 international teams eyeing a tournament title. The top-two finishers from each of the five-team pools will advance to the quarterfinals for a single-elimination bracket.

Japan is the defending WBC champion, having taken down the United States in the 2023 Finals, but a star-studded American team enters as the 2026 favorite — while the Dominican Republic, Japan and Venezuela represent a few more top contenders.
