The Dallas Stars faced off against the Colorado Avalanche in a heated game with a lot on the line at the American Airlines Center in Dallas. The Dallas Stars came in on a 10 game win streak and were looking to tie the season record for most consecutive wins.

Dallas was looking great and had numerous opportunities to capitalize and walk away with a win, however, their division rivals had other plans and spoiled the opportunity. Colorado pulled a late goal with 13 seconds remaining sending the game to overtime. The two teams battled fiercely in the 5-minute, 3-on-3 sudden-death period, but no team came up with points. The game concluded with both of Dallas’ shots being saved by Scott Wedgewood, who came in the 2nd period and Colorado scoring both of their shootout shots.

This was the first matchup between the teams since October, and plenty has changed. The Avalanche sit atop the Western Conference and Central Division with 93 points, while the red-hot Stars are close behind with 86. This was a must watch clash between two of the West’s hottest teams and shows that the conference and the division may still be up for grabs.
