The Los Angeles Rams are swinging a blockbuster trade with the Kansas City Chiefs for All-Pro cornerback Trent McDuffie.

After four years with the Chiefs after being a 2022 first-round pick, the Chiefs are trading him to the Rams for four picks, including a first-rounder (No. 29) in the 2026 NFL Draft, a fifth and sixth-rounder in this year’s draft, and a 2027 third-rounder.

This trade is a win-win for the Rams and Chiefs, and for McDuffie, who actually spoke this into existence before the 2025 season. As Mark Poulose of KCTV 5 shared, McDuffie revealed the Rams were the one non-Chiefs team he would want to play for.

At a local school event in Kansas City, McDuffie was asked by a kid in attendance.”If you weren’t on the Chiefs, what other team would you like to play for?” McDuffie’s answer was a noteworthy one, looking back on it now.

“You’re going to try and get me in trouble,” McDuffie joked, “If I could play for another team, I’d probably want to play close to my family. So that’d probably be the L.A. Rams so that my family can come see every single game.”

Before the 2025 season began, McDuffie named the Rams as the one team he would want to play for if he weren’t on the Chiefs anymore.

Well, less than a year later, that wish of McDuffie’s came true. While he surely would’ve been happy sticking with the Chiefs, he’s now on the next best team.

He will be close to his family in California and get to play in front of them for half of the season at the Rams’ home games at SoFi Field.

The All-Pro and two-time Super Bowl champion cornerback is a great pickup for the Rams, and for McDuffie, landing with the Rams is the best possible landing spot if he weren’t to stick with the Chiefs.

Before the 2025 season, he spoke this Rams connection into existence. The 2022 first-round pick is joining the Rams and will get to play in front of his friends and family from where he grew up as the Rams pursue a Super Bowl title.
