Team USA and Japan may like their chances for a rematch in this year’s World Baseball Classic final, but the Dominican Republic would love to spoil the party after a subpar showing in 2023.

Baseball fans get their first look at a loaded D.R. roster with a pair of exhibition games this week against the Detroit Tigers. Unlike the rest of the tune-up games between WBC and MLB teams, this one won’t happen at a spring training stadium. The Dominicans will be on home turf in Santo Domingo, which figures to make these games a bit more intense — and entertaining — than those taking place in Florida and Arizona.

Manager Albert Pujols has an embarrassment of riches as he writes out his lineup card, with the likes of Juan Soto, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Fernando Tatis Jr., Manny Machado and Julio Rodriguez at his disposal. The pitching staff isn’t quite as stacked, but Phillies lefty Cristopher Sanchez leads a group with plenty of major league experience.

The Tigers still have Grapefruit League games to play at home but A.J. Hinch’s travel roster includes Javier Baez, Riley Greene, Spencer Torkelson and elite prospects Kevin McGonigle and Max Clark.

It should be a fun couple of days of baseball in the D.R. Here’s everything you need to know to watch.
