The San Jose Sharks traded for Kiefer Sherwood less than two months ago.
Now, they might trade the former Vancouver Canucks standout again.
That’s what The Athletic’s Chris Johnston reported in his new trade board released on Monday.
Why? Because the Sharks haven’t gotten Sherwood to sign a contract extension.
They knew he was in the final year of his deal when they acquired him, but the Sharks hoped they’d be able to secure a Sherwood signature for the long haul.
Apparently, that isn’t going to happen, and so the Friday NHL trade deadline looms large for the Sharks and Canucks.

Sherwood missed his first month with the Sharks due to an upper-body injury. He has played just four games with the Sharks, including the three since returning from the Olympic break.
The Canucks got two second-round picks and AHL defenseman Cole Clayton for Sherwood.
It seems like the Sharks would have to settle for less now that the season is further along.
Sherwood hasn’t recorded a point in his four games with San Jose.
Before the trade, he had played 44 games for the Canucks this season, tallying 17 goals, 6 assists and 210 hits.
Sherwood would be desirable for another team if the price was right. And even though it makes sense, it’d be quite the development for Sherwood to be moved on from so quickly.
