The New York Jets have a lot of work to do this offseason and in the coming year. Aaron Glenn and Darren Mougey might be on the hot seat already, and results need to come through in 2026 to keep their jobs.

While the Jets need to figure out the quarterback room and improve the defense after losing Quinnen Williams, Sauce Gardner, and Jermaine Johnson, the running back room with Breece Hall cannot be ignored.

For Jets fans hoping Hall goes nowhere this offseason, they’re in luck, as ESPN’s Dan Graziano and Jeremy Fowler both are reporting that there’s a clear indication Hall will come back in some form this offseason.

Breece Hall’s update is good news for Jets fans

“Breece Hall, who will either get a deal done with the Jets before Tuesday’s tag deadline or receive a franchise or transition tag,” Graziano writes.

Graziano’s report makes it clear that the Jets are expected to retain Hall this offseason. The only question is whether the Jets will extend him or have to use a tag to keep him from hitting free agency. Fowler cleared that up in his report.

“The overwhelming belief in league circles is that the Jets will use the transition tag on running back Breece Hall ($11.3 million), though,” Fowler reports.

With the combination of these reports from Graziano and Fowler, the plan with Hall is clear: the Jets do not want to let him hit free agency.

Whether it’s a contract extension or a tag, Hall is staying with the Jets for at least the 2026 season. Most likely, the Jets will use the transition tag worth $11.7 million on Hall.

If that happens, then the Jets could still lose Hall, but it would cost an acquiring team two first-round picks to sign him this offseason.

For a running back, even one as good and young as Hall, that’s not likely. Jets fans who want Hall back can rest easy, as the superstar running back who eclipsed 1,000 rushing yards for the first time last season is set to return for at least one more year.
