The Chicago Bears are expected to part ways with one of their key defenders this offseason and the New York Giants, Tennessee Titans and Las Vegas Raiders are considered candidates to trade for the veteran.
According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Bears linebacker Tremaine Edmunds, who was recently granted permission to seek a trade, has “strong trade value and a decent chance to be dealt.”
Fowler goes on to add that the Giants, Titans and Raiders are all in the market for a linebacker and “they like” the Bears defender, which makes it possible they could trade for Edmunds.
“One player who has strong trade value and a decent chance to be dealt is Bears linebacker Tremaine Edmunds,” Fowler said. “The Titans, Raiders and Giants are among teams interested in high-end linebackers, and they like Edmunds, who’s only 27 despite eight years in the league. He was granted permission to seek a trade earlier this week.”
While Edmunds wasn’t bad last season, he hasn’t exactly lived up to his contract and the Bears need cap space, which is why he’s expected to be let go, either through cut or trade.
The Raiders’ need at linebacker comes from the fact they have four linebackers hitting free agency, including Elandon Roberts, Jamal Adams and Devin White.
Both White (94.2% of snaps) and Roberts (58.1% of snaps) both played significant snaps for the Raiders in 2025 and will need to be replaced if they don’t return.
Bobby Okereke is considered a cut candidate after not playing up to snuff the past two seasons for the Giants. Adding to that, Micah McFadden is a pending free agent and might not be back, so the Giants could be looking for two linebackers.
As for the Titans, they’re actually in decent shape at linebacker with Cody Barton and Cedric Gray, but with a new defensive mastermind at the helm in head coach Robert Saleh, he may not view one or both as a fit in his scheme.
If the Bears can strike a deal involving Edmunds with any team, it would amount to a huge win for Chicago, as the team will likely release the veteran linebacker if it can’t find a trade partner.
