When the Dallas Cowboys signed running back Javonte Williams to a three-year, $24 million deal recently, we figured that was a solid annual average measuring stick for Seattle Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker.
However, it appears Walker could command multiple millions of dollars more on an annual basis than that.
According to Essentially Sports’ Tony Pauline, Walker’s projected contract value is $11 million per year, which is $3 million more than what Williams got.
“The belief in league circles is that [Breece] Hall will be the top running back in free agency, if he even gets there, along with Kenneth Walker III of the Seattle Seahawks,” Pauline said of the Seattle back. “Both ball carriers are valued for contracts around $11 million annually.”
Spotrac’s projection for Walker comes in under that, with a four-year, $36 million deal that works out to $9 million annually. At $11 million per year, Walker would be tied for eighth among running backs in terms of annual average.
Luckily for the Seahawks, they have a great financial situation, with Seattle sitting with $61.8 million in cap space, so they can afford to pay that price.
But that doesn’t mean Seattle is going to pay it. After all, Walker isn’t exactly a sure thing to live up to that kind of contract.
Not only is he OK but not great as a pass-catcher and pass protector, but Walker has routinely battled through injuries in the past that have impacted his play. Walker was able to avoid that issue in 2025, but that’s really an outlier for his career.
At this point, we could see this situation going either way.
Not re-signing Walker would leave Seattle with a gaping hole at running back, especially when you consider Zach Charbonnet’s torn ACL, but there is a real possibility a big Walker extension could end up not panning out for Seattle.
