The Denver Broncos are about to hit the free-agent market in search of a top-tier running back and with the room under the salary cap to make it happen.

It should be no secret that the best option available is New York Jets running back Breece Hall. However, he’s only available in theory. Hall won’t hit the open market until the new league year begins on March 11 and it seems increasingly unlikely that the Broncos will have a chance to get him.

On Tuesday, Jets general manager Darren Mougey essentially stated that if the team is unable to come to terms with Hall on a new deal, he will be tagged. That means he’s not going anywhere.

With that in mind, who are the best options for the Broncos to turn their attention to? There are still plenty of players to consider, including the idea of bringing J.K. Dobbins back for another season.

Broncos’ best free-agent options at RB not named Breece Hall

Travis Etienne, Jacksonville Jaguars

There are plenty of people who feel that Travis Etienne is the best potential fit for the Broncos. The former first-round pick has rushed for 1,000 yards in three of his first four seasons and this past season, he also added six receiving touchdowns, showing that he can be a huge asset in the passing game as well.

Kenneth Walker III, Seattle Seahawks

The MVP of Super Bowl LX is one of the most intriguing options on this year’s market, but it seems hard to believe that the Seahawks would let him walk after what he just did in the biggest game of the year.

Still, if he does get out there to look for a new home, the Broncos should be heavily interested.

Tyler Allgeier, Atlanta Falcons

If the Broncos want to go the route of spending a little less money, Tyler Allgeier is a great option. A bruising runner, he’s been preserved well in his young career as he has worked behind Bijan Robinson, arguably the best running back in the NFL.

The Broncos could sign Allgeier and still have enough to bring back Dobbins and create a potent three-headed monster that would include RJ Harvey.
