The Philadelphia Eagles last season were up-and-down on offense, struggling for the sort of consistency that made them the NFL’s apex predator a year ago.

Plus, with Kevin Patullo as offensive coordinator, the offense was a shell of itself, as Jalen Hurts struggled, so too Saquon Barkley and just about every other skilled player.

Something was off. As such, Patullo was moved on, and now former NFL quarterback Sean Mannion is the new offensive coordinator in Philadelphia.

And the move has certainly invigorated Barkley.

“I’m super excited about it,” Barkley said on NFL Insiders via NFL.com. “I’m going on Year 9, which is crazy to say, and I’ve had a lot of different coaches and head coaches and been a part of a lot of systems. I don’t think I really came across a system like this. For me, it’s refreshing. You get something new. You get to learn something new.”

Can Eagles bounce back in 2026?

Well, that would be the hope after an inconsistent 2025 season.

The talent is there; it is just a matter of getting the right system in place to help bring out the best in what players Mannion has at his disposal.

The offensive line, now without star coach Jeff Stoutland, will be a key watch, as will what the franchise does with A.J. Brown. So, there are a lot of moving parts for the Eagles this offseason, but sometimes change is as good as a holiday.

And for Barkley, he’s one player who is ready to get back to work in the hopes of turning this ship around in 2026.
