The Phoenix Suns have been one of the most pleasant surprises of the 2025-26 NBA season. They have surpassed all expectations, despite people expecting them to struggle after the Kevin Durant trade. Of course, they were already struggling with Durant, but losing a superstar was a big blow.
That did not happen because the Suns became even better with their current roster. Most people saw Jalen Green as the primary piece to come from the Houston Rockets, but Dillon Brooks has also proven that the Suns benefited from the move. That is why it’s hard for the Suns and their fans to stomach Brooks’ latest injury.
Brooks’ broken left hand is a major blow to the Suns’ season
This season, Brooks has been a revelation for the Suns. Once known as a 3-and-D wing, he is now averaging 21.2 points per game. That is a career high, as his previous high was 18.4 points per game during the 2021-22 season. He stepped up as the second option to Devin Booker due to Green’s injury.
With Green returning and Booker set to return soon, people were excited about all three playing together. Unfortunately, Brooks broke his left hand in the Saturday game against the Orlando Magic, which is significant for the Suns’ overall campaign.

Most people have become impressed with the Suns because of how they have stepped up without Green. Brooks was a key cog in their system, not only as a defender but also as a reliable scorer.
Now, he is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines with a broken left hand, which could sideline him for the next month or so. The doctors have not confirmed the right timeline yet, but the Suns will definitely miss Brooks’ presence.
He has been tremendous for the Suns, and at the same time, he is a leader. Losing him is a significant blow to Jordan Ott’s system, but the season will continue, and other players must step up in Brooks’ absence.
