With the Miami Dolphins making major changes to their roster already this offseason, it’s only a matter of time before Tua Tagovailoa’s future is decided.

Miami is set to have a new quarterback in 2026, and while they could acquire a veteran, adding a young QB to take a flier on seems like the best idea for the Dolphins.

Bleacher Report’s Alex Ballentine proposed one fascinating trade for the Dolphins. This would have new GM Jon-Eric Sullivan sending their 2026 third-round pick to the Seattle Seahawks for rookie QB Jalen Milroe.

Dolphins trade idea lands Jalen Milroe as Tua Tagovalioa’s replacement

“Dolphins Receive: QB Jalen Milroe. Seahawks Receive: 2026 third-round pick (No. 75),” Ballentine proposes.

This trade idea from Ballentine would be a great way for the Dolphins to land an intriguing young quarterback without spending much money.

Even after the Dolphins cut Tyreek Hill and Bradley Chubb, the team’s cap space is in a bad spot. Sullivan needs to get creative in building this roster.

While Malik Willis reuniting with his Green Bay Packers alumni in Sullivan and new Dolphins head coach Jeff Halfley seems like the perfect fit, the Dolphins’ cap situation might make such a signing difficult to make work.

Instead, the Dolphins could send a draft pick to the Seahawks for Milroe, a rookie quarterback who has intriguing upside after being drafted out of Alabama in the third-round of the 2025 NFL Draft.

He threw for 2,834 yards and 23 touchdowns with six interceptions, with 531 rushing yard sand 12 touchdowns on the ground in 2023 with Alabama.

Then in 2024, Milroe ran for 727 yards and 20 rushing touchdowns to go with 2,844 passing yards and 16 touchdowns. The issue was that he had 11 interceptions.

Similar to Willis, Milroe has some intriguing dual-threat ability that’s worth taking a chance on. Seattle doesn’t need Milroe after Sam Darnold led them to a Super Bowl title.

But Seattle would likely need something good in return for Milroe, who’s under contract for three more seasons on a very cheap deal.

Milroe would be the perfect quarterback for the Dolphins next season, and going forward as they deal with restricted cap space thanks to Tagovailoa.

This trade idea from Ballentine is a fascinating one, and would be a fun way for Sullivan to replace Tagovailoa for the 2026 season and beyond.
