Canada reached the curling final thanks to a semifinal win over Norway, while Great Britain overcame Switzerland. Great Britain won easily 8-5, handing Switzerland its first loss at the Olympics in men’s curling. Canada needed an extra end to get past Norway, but won 5-4.

Canada and Great Britain met in the round-robin portion of the curling tournament. Canada won that matchup 9-5. Great Britain won the inaugural men’s curling event at the 1924 Olympics, and that remains their lone gold medal. Great Britain did win the silver in both 2014 and 2022. Canada has won three men’s curling gold medals, and they did it consecutively from 2006 to 2014. The Canadians won the silver in 1998 and 2002, and the bronze in 2022.
