The Miami Heat have struggled in the first half of the 2025-26 season, failing to gain any momentum in the Eastern Conference due to injury issues.
The Heat sit in familiar territory, eighth in the conference, with the Charlotte Hornets surging, only two and a half games behind.
That said, Miami finally received some encouraging news Thursday as the team announced an important update for one-time All-Star Tyler Herro.
According to NBA insider Ira Winderman, Herro is listed as probable to return from a rib injury in Miami’s next matchup against the Atlanta Hawks Friday.
As for first-time All-Star Norman Powell and recent NBA Slam Dunk Contest winner Keshad Johnson, the duo is listed as questionable due to back and calf injuries.
Herro has had rough injury luck so far this year, missing a whopping 45 games, the most of any season in his career.
However, when he’s been in the lineup, he’s averaging 21.9 points per game, 4.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists per game and one steal.
As the regular season comes to a close, Miami will be hopeful to get the best out of Herro, Powell and Bam Adebayo in order to improve their place in the Eastern Conference race.
The Heat trail the sixth-place Philadelphia 76ers by two games and trail their in-state rivals the Orlando Magic by half a game.
Following Friday’s game against the Hawks, the Heat will matchup against the Memphis Grizzlies Saturday before a two-game road trip with stops in Milwaukee and Philadelphia.
