The Chicago Bears, in Ben Johnson’s first year, managed an 11-6 record with Caleb Williams leading the team to the playoffs.
There was considerable improvement from Williams and the franchise overall, with some incredible moments and some not-so-incredible moments.
But Williams was in Year 2; that was to be expected.
However, as he approaches Year 3, Caleb has lofty standards for the offense.
Speaking on The Rush podcast with Maxx Crosby, Williams wants to be historic in 2026.
“I really want to become the greatest offense this year,” Williams said. “That’s really on my mind, being able to find ways to put up points every single time we’re out there. I think the average was 38.5 [points] or something of Denver, that Peyton year where he had 50 touchdowns. I think it’s 39 is the number, the average score so that’s what we’re going for.”

Could Bears match 2013 Broncos?
That is some bar to set.
Manning’s Broncos in 2013 averaged 37.9 points per game and had four players with 10+ touchdowns, as Peyton threw for 55 TDs.
That is what Caleb and the Bears are shooting for, and in truth, there’s no problem with that. You shoot for the stars, you’ll land on the moon, and getting near that would be incredible.
But that might be out of the realm of possibility, but it is clear that Williams wants his team to be like Peyton’s Broncos and be an offensive juggernaut.
Time will tell if they can be, but entering Year 3, Caleb has his eyes on a very lofty standard.
Let’s see how close he gets.
