Amber Glenn was expected to show out during the women’s singles short program at the 2026 Winter Olympics. The three-time U.S. National champion is arguably the United States’ finest talent in the event, leaping to gold at the 2024-25 Grand Prix.
But on Tuesday afternoon, with the eyes of the world watching, Glenn toiled. Her athleticism was still there as she pranced atop the slippery surface at Milano Ice Center.
But her precision was not. She missed an attempted triple loop, seeing her score tumble as a result. The drama was enough to leave her in tears.

Glenn posted a 67.39 score on short program, good for 13th in the 29-skater field. She sits 11 points off the lead and nine points off the podium at the conclusion of Tuesday’s routines.
Glenn enjoyed early success in her program, showcasing her athleticism with a series of depth-defying jumps, including her patented triple axel. But while attempting to complete a triple loop, Glenn missed out on her triple loop, completing just two rotations.
Her jump was deemed incomplete, resulting in her receiving zero points for her effort. Glenn was left in tears when her score was shown on the Jumbotron.
