Canada entered the final day of men’s hockey group play vulnerable to falling out of the No. 1 seed, even with a win, but they left absolutely no doubt with a 10-goal explosion against France.

The goal for Canada, however, was not to necessarily win their group or be the No. 1 seed. Anything less than gold would be a disappointment for this star-studded roster, and three more wins are still needed to get there.

The No. 1 seed did grant Canada a bye to the quarterfinals and prevent the Canadians from facing a potentially difficult matchup against Sweden to start the bracket portion of their tournament. So, what’s next for Connor McDavid and co.?

Does Canada hockey play today?

Canada does not play on Tuesday, so they will have a bit of an extended rest before the quarterfinals get started.

Tuesday’s slate features four games involving teams that finished between seeds 5-12. The top four seeds advanced directly to the quarterfinals, and Canada easily earned a bye by securing the No. 1 overall seed with a 3-0 record and +17 goal differential in group play.

When is the Canada’s next hockey game?

Canada will play its next game on Wednesday, Feb. 18, with puck drop set for 10:40 a.m. ET. The Canadians will face the winner of Tuesday’s playoff matchup between No. 8 Czechia and No. 9 Denmark, as the quarterfinals are not reseeded.

Canada has already faced one of its potential opponents, defeating Czechia 5-0 in the preliminary round. Regardless of who advances, Canada will be a heavy favorite to win in the quarterfinals.

The game will air on USA Network and can streamed on Peacock.
