Sports fans were having a field day with an ironic bit of news on Monday.
The fast food chain Wendy’s announced that it’ll be closing a bunch of locations as it embarks upon a “rebuilding year” in 2026.
Sports fans certainly know all about rebuilding years. And they took to social media to share their thoughts.
One of the funniest posts might’ve been one pointing out that the Pittsburgh Steelers still aren’t rebuilding even though Wendy’s is.

Some rebuilds take longer than others. It can be hard to turn things around in a single year.
Sometimes, you have to Trust The Process.
And sometimes, you turn into the Washington Wizards.
Wendy’s will certainly hope they luck out in the lottery, or find a few good trades. McDonald’s and Burger King are watching.
