A tournament steeped in history, the Rio Open returns this week to combine the ATP tour with the beautiful backdrops of Brazil once again.

Held on eight clay courts at the Jockey Club Brasileiro, many of the best names in men’s tennis have triumphed at the Rio Open. Legend Rafael Nadal won the inaugural tournament, while David Ferrer, Dominic Thiem, Diego Schwartzman, Cristian Garin and Carlos Alcaraz have all claimed the title since.

The only player in the history of the event to successfully defend his title, Sebastian Baez, will be attempting to pull off an unprecedented three-peat this week. However, Brazilian Joao Fonseca is heavily-favored competing in his hometown.
