Canada began its Olympic journey with a bang on Thursday, rolling past Czechia for a 5-0 victory. Can Switzerland slow its momentum?
The Swiss aren’t to be underestimated after a similarly dominant 4-0 win over France in their Olympic opener, but Canada’s powerful offense could be difficult to slow down. Connor McDavid and Sidney Crosby combined for five points purely through assists on Thursday, while five different players scored for the Canadians.
Switzerland, with 43 shots on goal in the win over France, will be under pressure to keep up with Canada’s offense for the full 60 minutes.

A win would put Canada in pole position in Group A, even if there is still work ahead. Canada already owns a victory over Czechia and will be a massive favorite against France on Sunday. If Switzerland wants to win Group A, an upset in Milan on Friday has to be in the cards.

Hockey players are best creatures of habit. Switzerland is four minutes into their warmup already before Canada takes the ice because, well, #NHL warmups are only 16 minutes long. Never change. 🤷♂️ pic.twitter.com/t04ICKo90p
