The Dallas Cowboys‘ defense was one of the worst in the NFL in 2025. They allowed the third-most yards per game and 59 touchdowns, which were the most of any defense.

This came after Dallas traded Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers just before the season began, leaving them without a top-tier edge rusher. The Cowboys could look to rectify that mistake by making another blockbuster trade, and one star pass rusher could be available.

In an appearance on 93.7 The Fan in Pittsburgh, Ray Fittipaldo of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette says the Steelers could receive as much as a second-round pick in exchange for Watt if they were willing to send him to another team.

“Top Steelers insider Ray Fittipaldo said the most the Steelers could probably get in a trade this offseason for TJ Watt is a 2nd round pick,” Andrew Fillipponi posted on X.

Watt signed a three-year contract with the Steelers last offseason that made him the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history. Despite leading the NFL in sacks three times, including putting up 19 in 2023, Watt has just 18.5 sacks combined in 2024 and 2025. Considering where the Steelers are as a franchise compared to where the Cowboys are, a trade could come together that makes sense for both sides.

Should a trade come together, the Cowboys would have a front four that featured Watt, Kenny Clark, and Quinnen Williams, which would be a chaotic trio for opposing offenses to handle, to say the least.
