The San Francisco 49ers must prioritize their pass rush this offseason and find a capable running mate opposite Nick Bosa.

After Bosa went down with a season-ending torn ACL in Week 2 of 2025, San Francisco’s pass rush fell apart, ranking last in sacks with just 20.

That’s why NFL Spin Zone’s Lou Scataglia predicts the 49ers will sign Nick Bosa’s brother, Buffalo Bills free agent edge rusher Joey Bosa, to bolster the pass rush.

Here is what Scataglia had to say about Joey and his fit in San Francisco:

“Joey Bosa isn’t the player he once was, but he’s still a starting-caliber player and nearly signed with the 49ers last offseason. Well, this might be the year where he finally decides to sign with the team and join his brother, Nick Bosa, on the defensive line. San Francisco is in need of some pass-rushing help. Signing the other Bosa brother makes a load of sense.”

Bosa is no longer a high-level pass rusher, but the 30-year-old can still provide solid production and be a plus starter for a contender.

The former first-round pick of the Los Angeles Chargers tallied five sacks and 47 quarterback pressures with the Bills in 2025, and also led the league in forced fumbles with five.

Signing Bosa would immediately fill one of the 49ers’ most pressing offseason needs and give Raheem Morris’s defense a nice edge rusher duo.

Bosa also shouldn’t cost too much to sign, as Spotrac projects the veteran defender will land a two-year deal worth $27.4 million with an average annual value of $13.7 million.

San Francisco is slated to have nearly $43 million in cap space, so they have the resources to make the Bosa brother tandem a reality.
