The Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots are squaring off in Super Bowl 60 in a rematch of their game from 2014. Over 10 years later, the Seahawks are looking for revenge.

Ahead of this matchup, First Things First on FS1 had Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen on their show and asked him which of these teams he wants to win.

Allen revealed if he’s rooting for the Seahawks or the Patriots, and while his answer is the expected one, there’s a fun reasoning for this choice from Allen.

Bills’ Josh Allen reveals who he’s rooting for in Super Bowl 60

“Sam Darnold, that’s my boy. We go back to (the) Draft, even before the draft, we’ve hung out before the draft when we were in college,” Allen said. “We live pretty close together. We spend a lot of time in the offseason together playing golf and hanging out. I’m rooting for my man there, #14 for the Seattle Seahawks.”

Allen is rooting for the Seahawks to beat the Patriots in the Super Bowl. With Allen being an AFC East rivals with the Patriots, it’s not a surprise to see Allen side with Seattle.

But the reasoning is what makes his rooting interest feel a lot more grounded than simply based on intra-division rivalries.

Allen and Darnold are friends, with both quarterbacks hailing from the 2018 NFL Draft class and living near one another. During the offseason, the two hang out often, as Allen indicates, making his rooting interest very clear.

The connection between Allen and Darnold is real. His comments on First Things First not only reveal his rooting interest for the Seahawks and Patriots Super Bowl, but also how strong a connection he’s built with Darnold over the years.

Allen’s rooting interest for Super Bowl 60 is an easy decision. While he holds respect for Mike Vrabel, Drake Maye, and the Patriots, they’re a division rival, and he has a friendship with Darnold that’s made his decision a very easy one.
