There have been reports indicating that the Philadelphia 76ers won’t trade VJ Edgecombe.

But if Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo is really on the table, would they hold back?

The rookie guard looks like he’s on his way to becoming a star. On the flip side, Giannis is a known superstar.

The NBA trade deadline is Thursday, so if this is happening, it would have to happen soon.

ESPN put together a new article on Monday in which it pitched trade proposals to its front office expert, Bobby Marks, and he picked just one that he thought was the best. He chose the 76ers deal.

The proposal sent Giannis to Philly for Edgecombe, Paul George, the Clippers‘ 2028 first-round pick and the 76ers’ 2030 first-round pick.

“The 76ers might well decline to discuss Edgecombe in any trade package, given the strong start to the No. 3 pick’s career,” ESPN’s Zach Kram wrote in constructing the trade idea. “They could opt to build around Edgecombe and Maxey as a long-term backcourt partnership. But GM Daryl Morey has always chased after stars, and he might not turn down the chance to build a contender with, arguably, three of the best half-dozen players in the East.”

It’s for Edgecombe that Marks thinks this was the best offer on the table.

“Only one of these trades results in Milwaukee landing a blue-chip prospect on a rookie contract: The Sixers and Edgecombe,” Marks writes. “While keeping Antetokounmpo in the East and absorbing the nearly $111 million owed to George is not appealing, adding Edgecombe, two future unprotected first-round picks and a likely lottery pick in June’s draft would set the Bucks’ rebuild in the right direction.”

This also creates the exciting roster build of Antetokounmpo alongside Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid. That would sure be fun to watch.
