The favorites continued to roll on Day 2 of the Nike EYBL Western Maryland Classic at Garrett College in McHenry, Maryland.
The game between North Carolina’s Christ School and AZ Compass Prep, ranked No. 2 in the latest edition of The Sporting News Boys Basketball Top 25, was postponed, but the other ranked teams competing in the event finished the day victorious.
That included No. 4 Link Academy which outlasted CATS Academy for a 64-57 win to finish unbeaten for the weekend. That followed No. 11 Wasatch Academy’s comfortable 85-56 victory over Mt. Zion Prep. While Link Academy will head back to Missouri with two more wins, Wasatch Academy still has a Saturday night matchup in the final game of the classic against the formidable Bishop O’Connell.
La Lumiere and Tennessee Collegiate Academy were the only other teams in action on Friday, and the favored Lakers survived, 66-58, in overtime against the representatives of the Volunteer State.
Christ School was the only other Top 50 program scheduled to compete before pulling out prior to the start of the competition on Thursday. Their scheduled meeting with CATS Academy on Saturday has also been postponed.
Link Academy center Ethan Taylor (Michigan State) was the top-ranked Class of 2026 senior prospect, and the Lions also had Top 100 prospects in SF Tajh Ariza (Oregon), SF Luca Foster (Gonzaga), PG Carlos Medlock Jr. (Michigan State), C Tristan Reid (Mississippi State), and SF Trent Perry (Kansas).
AZ Compass Prep countered with SG Quincy Wadley (unsigned), CG Kaden House (Maryland), and SG Kalek House (Xavier), but they only managed to get one game in due to the scrapped contest against Christ School.
Other Top 100 prospects in attendance included La Lumiere’s duo of PG Jonathan Sanderson (Notre Dame) and SF Jacob Webber (Purdue).
