The skiing world is hoping for the best for Lindsey Vonn, the United States legend.
But the news and timing isn’t good with the Olympics underway in just more than a week.
Vonn crashed during the last World Cup downhill event before the Olympics. She lost control while trying to land a jump.
She had to be airlifted to a nearby medical facility.
Vonn appeared to be favoring her left knee as she got up after the crash.
The 41-year old, still pursuing more Olympic dreams, has had knee troubles in the past, which are worth noting as she tries to make her way back in time to ski in Italy.
Which knee did Lindsey Vonn have replaced?
Vonn has had her right knee replaced, not her left knee.
It’s unclear how that may impact things with the apparent left knee injury she sustained this week, but it’s notable nonetheless.
Vonn had a partial knee replacement on her right knee in April 2019. That was shortly after she initially retired from competitive skiing, and it was a chance to totally refresh her body after what she thought was the end of her career.
Naturally, nearly seven years later, Vonn is still getting after it on the slopes.
Skiiers crash often, and knee injuries are common. Vonn is certainly no stranger to either fact.
Whether this particular moment keeps her out of the Olympics remains to be seen.
