Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is widely regarded as one of the best quarterbacks in football, but he might have just given a little insight into another strength of his — spelling.
With the Bills QB coming into Joe Brady’s introductory press conference on crutches and in a moon boot, when Allen faced the media, naturally, questions were going to be about his foot.
Allen revealed he broke a bone in his foot in Week 16 against the Cleveland Browns, then played with it for the rest of the season before having surgery.
Allen was asked which bone he had broken in his foot, and that is where the fun began.
“Fifth metatarsal, I think, is what it’s called,” Allen said.
Josh was then asked if he knew how to spell metatarsal by a reporter, much to the delight of everyone in the room. And of course, Josh stepped up.
“M-e-t-a-t-a-r-s-a-l, I think,” a smiling Allen added.
So, alongside being a top quarterback, we can also add an accomplished speller to Allen’s resume.

Bills new era begins
It will be Brady’s show in Buffalo, taking over from Sean McDermott, and the offense is a key watch here.
One of the best units in football under his guidance, the same is expected with Brady as head coach.
Allen, in his prime, is obviously a key reason as well, but the Bills on the offensive side of the ball are pretty set. Defensively, they need to improve.
After another playoff failure, the Bills will enter 2026 again, with huge pressure to deliver a Super Bowl, with a first-time head coach, mind you.
But with an MVP at quarterback, who is also a great speller, you might have a better chance.
