The Los Angeles Dodgers have built one of the best teams in MLB history. Thanks to incredible spending, they’ve been able to bring in some of the best talents over the last few years.

This year is no different, with Edwin Diaz and Kyle Tucker joining the team in free agency. But, beyond the current roster, what about their farm system?

ESPN’s Kiley McDaniel ranks the Dodgers’ farm system top-5, and it’s thanks to their incredible pool of 18 above-average prospects waiting in the wings.

Dodgers incredible prospect depth has ESPN ranking farm system 4th in MLB

If a prospect has an FV above 40, they’re considered an above-average prospect. With that in mind, how many prospects that fit this description does the Dodgers farm system, which McDaniel ranks 4th in baseball, have?

“The Dodgers have 18 such prospects, one more than the Brewers,” McDaniel writes. “I would guess four or five of those 18 will play in the big leagues this season, and I don’t think any of those players are future stars.”

While the Dodgers have some incredible depth, the best among all Major League teams, their ceiling isn’t as good as some of the other clubs around baseball.

Their top prospect is outfielder Josue De Paula, ranked 21st according to McDaniel’s rankings. But the bigger boost for the Dodgers is their incredible prospect depth.

Having 18 above-average prospects, when some teams have as few as five or six this season, is a testament to how great the farm system is.

They’re ranked 4th in ESPN’s farm system rankings, and it’s thanks in large part to the incredible depth they’ve put together.
